The objective of Gamma Tau Phi, as outlined in the constitution, is to recognize and encourage scholarship, leadership, and service among students in The College of IST. We want to add to students’ academic experiences outside of the classroom, whether it be in tutoring, encouraging professional certification, teach-in’s on specialized topics, or even study groups. We want to promote leadership by creating an atmosphere where students have the opportunity to experience personal growth by building confidence through professional development, and have the opportunity to help sculpt a stronger network of IST students. This is done in an environment structured for student leaders in The College of Information Sciences and Technology to meet other student leaders, ranging from people involved in the IST Student Government, to people involved in WIST.
