The objective of Gamma Tau Phi, as outlined in the constitution, is to recognize and encourage scholarship, leadership, and service among students in The College of IST. We want to add to students’ academic experiences outside of the classroom, whether it be in tutoring, encouraging professional certification, teach-in’s on specialized topics, or even study groups. We want to promote leadership by creating an atmosphere where students have the opportunity to experience personal growth by building confidence through professional development, and have the opportunity to help sculpt a stronger network of IST students. This is done in an environment structured for student leaders in The College of Information Sciences and Technology to meet other student leaders, ranging from people involved in the IST Student Government, to people involved in WIST.
General meetings are informational and participatory events for our members. Officers talk about the upcoming events and initiatives of the society, ask members for new ideas, and hold votes on issues.
Company Information Sessions
Company Information Sessions are held several times a month for companies interested in reaching out to the Honors Society. Representatives of the companies come to our meetings and present about their company and the opportunities it offers for internships and full time positions. Representatives also come in to teach our members a new technical or soft skill as well as presentations on new and innovative technologies their company is working towards.
If your company is interested in presenting to GTP, please contact our President, Audra Stafursky at email@example.com.
Social events are held to break the regular routine of meetings and let our members get to know each other better. Such events include our annual hayride with WIST, scavenger hunt, movie nights, laser tag, and more!
