General Meetings
General meetings are informational and participatory events for our members. Officers talk about the current and future events and initiatives of the society, ask members for new ideas, and hold votes on issues.
Inductions
Inductions are held early in the fall semester in conjunction with a general meeting. They serve to recognize and congratulate incoming members and introduce them to the Honors Society. After the information session, there is a meet and greet for members and officers.
Corporate Panel Session
Corporate Panel Sessions are held once or twice a year. The main session is held during Career Week a day or two after the IST Professional Expo. The Honors Society invites five or six different companies and their recruiters to share their ideas about current events in the information technology industry. Members are encouraged to ask insightful questions. After the session, there is a meet and greet for the members, officers, and company representatives.
Company Information Session
Company Information Sessions can be held for companies interested in reaching out to the Honors Society. Representatives will be introduced and given an opportunity to present to interested members.
Innovation Series
Innovation Series are interesting events relevant to IST. They can range from educational workshops to research presentations aimed at connecting professors and students with research opportunities.
Ice Skating Event
The Ice Skating Event is a social event held with the IST Alumni Society. We rent the Penn State Ice Pavilion and provide members with free entry and ice skate rentals. This event is meant to strengthen membership bonds in GTP and allow for networking with IST alumni.
Halloween Hayride
The Halloween Hayride is a social event held within a few days of Halloween. It includes a hayride through a local farm to a picnic site. At the site there is a bonfire and a barbecue. We will organize activities so everyone can get to know each other and enjoy the evening.
