Tutoring

The IST Student Tutoring Initiative was formed by the members of Gamma Tau Phi, IST's Honor Society, in order to provide free tutoring services to students in need. All IST or SRA students are eligible for this service. The mentors consist of fellow students who have shown proficiency in the classes or subject matter. To request tutoring service, simply fill out the form below and a tutoring coordinator will contact you shortly!

Become a Tutor

Gamma Tau Phi is looking for students who have successfully completed IST or SRA courses, or can provide tutoring on any specific IT skill. Tutors will receive free training and will be taken out to dinner twice during the semester! The GTP Tutoring Program will be run on a "by appointment" basis via a website, so that tutors will not need to hold weekly office hours. Tutors will likely need to devote only one to two hours per week, if that.

Tutoring will be great for:

  • Resume Building
  • Improving communication and mentor skills
  • Giving back to the IST community
  • Getting sit-down, mid-semester and end-of-semester dinners

If you are interested in being a tutor, please contact Dan at djf5043@psu.edu for an application.

Required Forms

Students and tutors involved in the tutoring program will have to fill out the following paperwork. These are required to ensure a standardized tutoring process and outline the policies and expectations beforehand.
